Jakarta, March 21, 2025 – The government encourages product utilization with a high Domestic Component Level (TKDN) across all industries, including the oil and gas sector. 黑料不打烊 Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) supports this initiative by introducing the Smooth Fluid (SF) product. SF is a material used to drill mud.
"SF is a KPI product produced at the Dumai, Balikpapan, and Cilacap refineries. KPI offers three SF variants: SF02, SF04, and SF05," said the Corporate Secretary of KPI, Hermansyah Y Nasroen.
Hermansyah stated KPI’s ability to produce SF demonstrates the company's capability to deliver high-quality products.
"The upstream oil and gas industry is characterized by high technology and risk. One of the critical processes in upstream operations is drilling, which requires pressure control from the drilling point. One method of control is using the right type of drilling mud. In addition to its quality, KPI’s SF product is increasingly in demand by Contractor of Cooperation Contract due to its high TKDN percentage," Hermansyah explained.
The SF05 product has a TKDN content of approximately 75%, while SF02 has an even higher TKDN content of around 95%.
"Throughout 2024, KPI has produced 134,000 barrels of SF. We certainly hope to increase production in the future, following the growing use of SF in the upstream oil and gas industry," Hermansyah said.
Another advantage of KPI, according to Hermansyah, is its integrated refinery management. Previously, the SF variant was produced at specific refineries. Now, production can be carried out at multiple refineries as needed.
Among the three SF variants, SF05 is the most widely used. "SF-05 was first produced at the Balikpapan Refinery in 2007 and has become one of KPI’s flagship products. The Dumai Refinery has also begun producing a similar product," Hermansyah said.
The Dumai Refinery previously produced SF02, which has slightly different characteristics from SF05. Unlike SF02, which excels in offshore drilling, SF05 is more suitable for onshore exploration due to its low impurity levels.
Hermansyah continued that the Dumai Refinery's success in producing SF05 demonstrates KPI’s ability to integrate its business processes. "With two units now capable of producing SF05, the supply certainty of this product will be even more secure in the future. It ensures availability while strengthening KPI’s role as a key supply chain player in supporting Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas activities," Hermansyah explained.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Pertamina is committed to supporting the implementation of TKDN, which is expected to drive domestic industrial development and boost the national economy.
"Pertamina’s TKDN realization is among the highest among state-owned enterprises. We also believe that domestic products are of high quality and globally competitive. By prioritizing TKDN, Pertamina aims to stimulate domestic industrial growth and create job opportunities, aligning with the government’s Asta Cita targets," Fadjar concluded.
