Jakarta, March 10, 2025 – To support communities impacted by the March 5, 2025 floods in several parts of Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) on March 5, 2025, Pertamina carried out a Free Oil Change program for motorcycle owners and provided fuel vouchers to affected consumers.

The Free Oil Change program, conducted by 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Lubricants from March 7–9, successfully provided oil changes for 878 motorcycles. Over three days, the free oil change service was carried out in three locations: 320 motorcycles in Pondok Gede Permai Housing Complex, Nusa Indah Street, Bekasi; 287 motorcycles at Baiturrahman Mosque, Cisarua, Bogor; and 271 motorcycles at the Cawang Sub-district Office, East Jakarta. At the same event, 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Patra Niaga distributed 1,000 fuel vouchers worth IDR 15,000 per consumer.

Nugroho Setyo Utomo, Vice President of Marketing of 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Lubricants, stated, “We understand that floods affect many aspects of life, including vehicles, which are essential for mobility. This Free Oil Change program aims to ease the burden on affected communities while ensuring their vehicles continue to perform optimally.”

Yogo, a resident of Pondok Gede Permai, shared that the flood on Monday, March 3, 2025, had submerged residents’ vehicles. “This program from Pertamina has been a great help to us. Besides the free oil change, technicians provided direct servicing for our motorcycles. We even received additional fuel vouchers as support,” he said.

According to the Technical Specialist of Pertamina Lubricants, Tri Purwanto, water can alter the properties of lubricants, causing them to lose their ability to reduce friction between engine components.

If left unchecked, this condition can accelerate engine component wear, reduce engine efficiency, and increase the damage risk due to excessive friction. Moreover, corrosion risk rises if water remains in the engine too long.

“Oil that has mixed with water must be drained or flushed immediately to ensure no water remains in the engine before refilling with fresh oil,” said Tri. “It can be identified by the oil’s color—it turns brownish and foamy, resembling milk.”

In addition to changing the oil, Tri also recommended several steps to take for motorcycles exposed to floods:

• Remove the spark plug & check the combustion chamber – Ensure no water has entered.
• For automatic motorcycles, check the gear oil – Replace if necessary.
• Inspect the air filter & exhaust – Ensure they are dry to avoid combustion issues.
• Check the electrical system – Wet cables can cause short circuits.

Through this program, Pertamina hopes to support communities affected by the floods while reinforcing its commitment to maintaining vehicle performance across Indonesia.
