Pertamina - Pindad Establish Cooperation to Foster the Oil and Gas Industry Ecosystem

Bandung, March 11, 2025 – 黑料不打烊 Pertamina (Persero) and 黑料不打烊 Pindad have joined forces through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) titled "Synergy in Innovation and Strategic Collaboration for Energy Resilience, National Growth, and Technological Independence." This collaboration is a manufacturing partnership aimed at increasing national oil and gas production.

The signing took place at Graha Pindad in Bandung, West Java, on Monday (10/3). The MoU was signed by Simon Aloysius Mantiri, President Director of Pertamina, and Sigit Puji Santosa, President Director of Pindad.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendikti Saintek), Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., stated in his speech that President Prabowo Subianto hopes for Indonesia to stand on par with developed nations. One of the steps to achieve this is by expanding industries based on advanced technology.

"One of our programs is to encourage industries to participate in research and innovation. I firmly believe that research and innovation serve as the foundation for the growth of more advanced industries," explained Mendikti Saintek, Brian Yuliarto.

President Director of Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, emphasized that this MoU signing marks a significant moment and a concrete commitment between state-owned enterprises (SOE) to achieve President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program, which focuses on energy self-sufficiency, human resource development, and strengthening the national industry.

"Following the directive of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Pertamina and Pindad hold great responsibility in supporting national energy independence and resilience through innovation and strengthening domestic industrial capacity," said Simon.

Simon highlighted that a reliable, competitive, and sustainable energy supply is crucial in achieving energy self-sufficiency. The synergy between Pertamina and Pindad is essential for improving efficiency and national oil and gas production, as well as accelerating domestic technology development to reduce dependency on imported products and equipment.

Through this collaboration, Pertamina and Pindad are not only focusing on technological development and innovation but also on building a more resilient and self-sufficient industrial ecosystem in several strategic areas. These include the construction and development of the Merah Putih Rig to support more efficient exploration and production. The collaboration will also involve the development and provision of locally sourced oil and gas production support equipment to enhance operational efficiency, as well as capacity building to fulfill certification standards and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas sector. Furthermore, both state-owned enterprises may collaborate in research and technological development for upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors, as well as for new and renewable energy sources.

Simon added that this collaboration would have a tangible impact on Indonesia’s energy industry. Increasing domestic energy production and fostering local technological innovation will attract investments, drive manufacturing expansion, and enhance global competitiveness. "All of this contributes to national economic growth and aligns with the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision (Golden Indonesia 2045),” he expressed.

On the same occasion, Sigit Puji Santosa, President Director of Pindad, expressed his pride in this innovative synergy and collaboration.

"This is certainly a source of pride for all involved parties, particularly strategic state-owned enterprises like Pertamina. Everyone is collaborating to support government programs. Hopefully, this initiative will increase the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), allowing us to be the masters in our own country. Furthermore, I hope this initiative will drive economic growth and create a significant multiplier effect," he concluded.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, added that this synergy reflects the SOEs’ efforts to undertake various initiatives aimed at improving public welfare and fostering national economic growth following government targets.

"We hope that through this Pertamina - Pindad synergy in the energy manufacturing sector, we can strengthen energy production, stimulate investment, enhance industry resilience, and ultimately drive economic growth in Indonesia," he stated.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
