Jakarta, April 11, 2025 —To improve the community's access to education, 黑料不打烊 Pertamina (Persero), through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program implemented by the Pertamina Foundation, has awarded educational scholarships to 44 local heroes or their family members. Local Heroes are individuals from Pertamina-assisted communities who have received training and mentoring to develop their capacity in renewable energy, energy independence, and community self-sufficiency in their respective areas.
Vice President of CSR & SMEPP Management of Pertamina, Rudi Ariffianto, explained that these scholarships are a form of appreciation for the local heroes’ contributions.
“These scholarships are a token of our appreciation to the local heroes who have been at the forefront of implementing Pertamina's TJSL programs. They are more than just beneficiaries; they are agents of change who help create self-sufficient communities around them,” said Rudi.
The Operations Director of Pertamina Foundation, Yulius S. Bulo, stated that the scholarship recipients range from elementary school students to university students.
“The scholarship recipients range from elementary school students to university students, including 33 university students, six senior high school or vocational high school students, four junior high school students, and one elementary school student. The educational support provided includes tuition or school fees and living expenses. In addition, they are also encouraged to carry out green initiative programs through the Sobat Bumi Action,” said Bulo.
The youngest scholarship recipient, Aqila Raysha Muchtar, is a sixth-grade student at SDN 2 Sukajaya and a local hero from PHE Jambi Merang, Regional Sumatra, Pertamina’s Upstream Sub-holding. Aqila is considered a local hero due to her role as an environmental movement pioneer in her community in Bayung Lencir, Musi Banyuasin Regency (Muba), South Sumatra Province.
Aqila and her friends regularly provide guidance, training, and outreach about eco-friendly lifestyles to environmental care groups and their school peers, such as properly sorting waste.
For her environmental contributions, Aqila was not only appointed as an Adiwiyata School Ambassador, but she also received the Community Involvement and Development (CID) Upstream Award 2024 for Best Local Hero from 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE).
“Thank you, Pertamina, for continuously supporting me to achieve and contribute to protecting the environment around me,” said Aqila.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, expressed his hope that the scholarships will motivate local heroes to continue inspiring their communities.
“Pertamina’s Local Heroes are drivers of change in their communities, bringing positive impacts to the environment, local communities, and society. We hope scholarships will strengthen their commitment and contribution, and inspire the people around them,” said Fadjar.
Through this TJSL program in education, Pertamina provides scholarships that align with the fourth Asta Cita goal, “strengthening the development of human resources, science, technology, and education.” It also aligns with the government’s program to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement, particularly Goal 4 on quality education, and supports the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
