Jakarta, February 17, 2025 – Pertamina has implemented various initiatives to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060 target, including renewable energy and more environmentally friendly fuel developments.
It was conveyed by the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Technology Innovation at Pertamina, Oki Muraza, during the Carbon Neutrality and Mobility Event, organized by Toyota Indonesia at Gambir Expo, Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Kemayoran, on Friday, February 14, 2025, in conjunction with the Indonesia International Motor Show 2025 (IIMS 2025).
Oki explained that Pertamina has been preparing for the future of Indonesia’s energy sector, from strategies to reduce emissions to ensuring energy security and resilience in the country. However, he emphasized the need for policy support and incentives to create a sustainable and affordable biofuel ecosystem. Oki also reaffirmed Pertamina’s commitment to keeping energy prices affordable for the Indonesian public.
From a product perspective, Pertamina continues to develop bioenergy to meet domestic demand.
"Pertamina is developing at least three products. First, bioethanol blended with gasoline. We also have HVO, or renewable diesel, which is blended with regular diesel. Third, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for the aviation industry," he explained.
In line with these efforts, Pertamina is also actively developing Indonesia's electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, including recycling EV batteries. Oki also highlighted Pertamina’s investment in hydrogen energy for the future.
"For hydrogen, we have several initiatives, particularly in production. We are working to produce green hydrogen in Ulubelu with a capacity of 100 kg per day and are preparing a project for hydrogen refueling stations, called the Hydrogen Refueling Station," said Oki Muraza.
Meanwhile, Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Eniya Listiani Dewi, appreciates Pertamina’s ongoing efforts in developing environmentally friendly fuels, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and the government’s B40 program.
"In the aviation sector, Pertamina has already developed a biofuel known as SAF. Additionally, the B40 program is progressing well. As of today (14/02), approximately 12 million kiloliters of mandatory B40 fuel have been distributed. We highly appreciate Pertamina’s implementation of biofuels," Eniya concluded.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina’s business lines and operations.**
