Official! Pertamina Leads the Clean Energy Task Force – ASCOPE

April 28, 2025 - Indonesia officially received Malaysia's leadership baton for the Clean Energy Task Force (CETF) under the ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE). The handover ceremony occured at the Mid-Year Task Force Meeting held on April 23, 2025, in Singapore.

Pertamina NRE, as ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Pertamina (Persero)’s renewable energy sub-holding, has been entrusted to represent the collaborative efforts of ASEAN countries in promoting clean energy development and sustainable energy transition within the ASEAN region. This event marks a significant moment for ASCOPE to strengthen energy cooperation, particularly in the renewable energy sector.

Representing Pertamina, Fadli Rahman, Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development of Pertamina NRE, expressed his appreciation to Malaysia for leading and driving the achievement of CETF milestones during the 2022-2025 period. Fadli Rahman also reaffirmed his commitment to continue advancing CETF’s objectives, particularly in accelerating clean and sustainable energy implementation, enhancing cross-country cooperation, and aligning ASCOPE initiatives with ASEAN’s overall energy transition targets.

“We are proud and honored to be entrusted with leading this Task Force. This is a strategic opportunity to strengthen Indonesia’s position in regional cooperation, particularly in driving an inclusive and sustainable energy transition in ASEAN,” said Fadli.

During the handover event, Vice Chairs from three countries were appointed: Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. Each of these Vice Chairs is expected to make tangible contributions towards achieving the CETF action plan, which includes, but is not limited to, (1) identifying and implementing partnerships among ASCOPE member countries, (2) advocating for and drafting regulatory recommendations, (3) developing sustainable capacity building, and (4) improving access to green financing.

Pertamina NRE’s leadership of CETF ASCOPE 2025 highlights Indonesia’s strategic role in the ASEAN energy sector and reinforces the nation’s commitment to the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuing to develop renewable energy and other green initiatives.
