IHC Strengthens Clinical Governance System Based on Professional Ethics: Foundation of Safe and Dignified Healthcare Services

Jakarta, May 14, 2025 – 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Bina Medika IHC (IHC), as the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Hospital Holding overseeing a network of hospitals and clinics from Aceh to Papua, reaffirms its commitment to building a clinical governance system based on professional ethics. This approach is believed to be the fundamental basis for realizing safe, dignified healthcare services that prioritize quality and patient safety.

Dr. Lia Partakusuma, Medical Director of IHC, stated that professional ethics are the heart of clinical service governance. “Ethics are the key to system integrity. Without a commitment to professional ethics, all service protocols and standards lose their essence—humanity. At IHC, we are building a clinical culture that not only complies with regulations but also upholds moral and professional values,” said Dr. Lia.

To strengthen this system, IHC continuously develops policies and internal educational programs aligned with Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health, the Indonesian Medical Code of Ethics (KODEKI), and professional nursing ethics standards. The socialization event held on Friday, May 9, 2025, served as a concrete form of support for this policy direction.

The professional ethics upheld by IHC include universal moral principles such as patient autonomy, the duty to do good and avoid harm, and justice in service delivery. In nursing, values such as respect for patient dignity, advocacy, empathy, and closeness are key aspects emphasized in daily professional interactions.

“The ethics application not only prevents violations or legal risks but also strengthens public trust in the institution. Ethics guarantees that patients are treated not as clinical objects, but as whole human beings,” added Dr. Lia.

Through the functions of the Medical and Nursing Committees, IHC also strengthens the mechanisms of credentialing, professional quality development, and discipline maintenance as part of an integrated clinical governance system. It enhances IHC’s position as a healthcare institution that prioritizes competence and character.

In the future, IHC will continue to expand its professional ethics development programs as a long-term strategy to reinforce a value-based organizational culture. This effort is part of the broader transformation currently driven by IHC to realize a superior, integrated national healthcare ecosystem that earns the public’s trust.
