Four Years of PERTIWI: Successfully Producing 40 Female Leaders in the Pertamina Group

Jakarta, May 9, 2025 – Over the past four years, the PERTIWI (Perempuan Pertamina Tangguh Inspiratif Wibawa Integritas – Strong, Inspirational, Authoritative, and Integrity-driven Pertamina Women) community has become a driving force in empowering female workers within the Pertamina Group and all its subsidiaries. PERTIWI Pertamina has successfully produced 40 female leaders at various levels within the Pertamina Group.

Emma Sri Martini, Director of Finance of Pertamina and chair of PERTIWI, stated that the PERTIWI community is a strategic platform to support self-development, strengthen collaboration, and encourage contributions to the company's success.

According to Emma, PERTIWI consistently emphasizes professionalism and integrity, which are non-negotiable values in leadership. “A leader must be able to lead by example and act in alignment with what they say. Global challenges demand that we keep Pertamina on the right track,” said Emma.

Various PERTIWI programs are designed to prepare female workers to become future leaders. PERTIWI continues to actively organize self-development programs such as KickOff & Upskilling, Coaching & Mentoring, PERTIWI Financial Literacy Week, and the PERTIWI Awards as a form of appreciation for female employees.

One of PERTIWI’s flagship programs is the Women Leadership Accelerator (Women Leap), which has produced 40 new female leaders within the Pertamina Group. This program aims to build confidence, capability, and readiness in women to occupy strategic positions in the future.

Emma added that in the future, PERTIWI is committed to continuing as a driving force in women’s development, not only within Pertamina but also nationally, as a tangible contribution to sustainable development in Indonesia.

“A gender-focused community is not only about equality, but also a step in a long-term environmental sustainability strategy through a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) approach,” Emma emphasized.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that Pertamina provides ample opportunities for female workers to advance and become leaders in various business lines. According to Fadjar, by the end of 2024, female leaders in the Pertamina Group accounted for 18.4% of the total leadership positions. Meanwhile, female employees comprised 20.3% of the total Pertamina Group workforce, up from 19.4% in 2023.

“The representation of female leaders in the Pertamina Group is relatively high and will continue to be promoted in line with the directive from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) to support women’s leadership in SOEs,” said Fadjar.

With various benefits received by participants, Pertamina is committed to continuing the Pertamina UMK Academy program. “We believe that Indonesian MSMEs can go international and help grow the economy in their respective regions,” said Fadjar Djoko Santoso.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
