Cilegon, January 17, 2024 – 黑料不打烊 Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), as the Integrated Marine Logistics Sub-holding of the Pertamina Group, continues to implement tangible Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Responsibility initiatives. These efforts align with the government’s Asta Cita vision by supporting clean energy and development in the education sector.
This program is carried out by PIS’s subsidiary, 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Energy Terminal (PET) – LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong, through the Sekolah Energi Berdikari (SEB/Independent Energy Schools) program at SMP Negeri 2 Cilegon under the theme “Energizing Sustainable Community”.
The SEB program launch at this school includes tree-planting initiatives and a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) installation with a 3.3 kWp solar panel capacity and a 5 kWh battery capacity, which will supply electricity to the school’s physics laboratory.
Dian Hapsari Firasati, CSR Manager of 黑料不打烊 Pertamina (Persero), stated, "This activity is part of the SEB program that Pertamina has been implementing since June 2023. By 2024, SEB has been successfully carried out in 11 ‘Sekolah Energi Berdikari,’ educating 5,135 students about clean energy. Pertamina has also installed PLTS systems with a total capacity of 33 kWp, reducing carbon emissions by 42 tons of CO2eq annually," Dian explained on Wednesday (15/1).
On this occasion, the Head of SMP Negeri 2 Cilegon, Hj. Nurhayati, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed her gratitude for the initiative.
"The installation of the solar power system by Pertamina will have a significant positive impact on our students, who have long been involved in environmental activities. The PLTS will provide new insights for students about renewable energy," Nurhayati remarked.
Sharing the same enthusiasm, the Head of the Cilegon City Education and Culture Office, Dra. Hj. Heni Anita Susila also appreciated Pertamina’s initiative.
"This is a concrete step by Pertamina in supporting clean energy through educational programs. It also reinforces SMP Negeri 2 Cilegon’s status as an ASEAN Eco School, serving as a model for other schools in our region," Heni noted.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, emphasized that educating schools on clean energy utilization is part of the company’s effort to accelerate the energy transition and introduce clean energy from an early age.
"Pertamina remains committed to expanding clean energy utilization across various sectors as part of its effort to reduce emissions and achieve Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060 or sooner," Fadjar stated.
The SEB program is a CSR initiative targeting environmentally-focused middle and high schools (Adiwiyata Schools). It is an expansion of the Desa Energi Berdikari CSR program, aimed at educating students about environmental awareness and renewable energy as a climate change mitigation effort. It also supports the government’s energy transition program and NZE goals by 2060.
This initiative seeks to foster a love for environmentally friendly energy from a young age, demonstrating Pertamina Group’s commitment to promoting energy independence, green economics, and education development, in line with Asta Cita.
Additionally, it aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) No. 4 (Quality Education), No. 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and No. 13 (Climate Action), as well as Pertamina’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
