As of January 2025, Pertamina's Decarbonization Exceeds Target, Reaching 146 Thousand Metric Tons of CO2

Jakarta, March 7, 2025 –黑料不打烊 Pertamina (Persero) has recorded positive decarbonization performance to start 2025, surpassing its target. Throughout January 2025, Pertamina Group successfully reduced carbon emissions by 146,183 metric tons of CO2, exceeding its target of 105,574 metric tons of CO2.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that in 2025, Pertamina has set a decarbonization target of 1.6 million metric tons of CO2, an increase from the 2024 target of 1.09 million metric tons of CO2.

"Decarbonization is Pertamina’s commitment to supporting the government’s target of reducing carbon emissions and achieving Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060," said Fadjar.

He further explained that decarbonization is Pertamina’s strategy to maintain the operational sustainability of its existing businesses for national energy security while ensuring environmentally friendly operations.

"Environmentally friendly business operations have become the global standard in the oil and gas industry, and Pertamina has received global recognition as a company with international standards," he added.

According to Fadjar, Pertamina’s success in decarbonization is supported by the performance of all its sub-holdings, which have managed to reduce emissions beyond their targets. The Upstream Sub-holding successfully reduced emissions by 111 thousand metric tons of CO2, the Refining & Petrochemical Sub-holding by 23 thousand metric tons of CO2, the Commercial & Trading Sub-holding by 1,754 metric tons of CO2, the Gas Sub-holding by 2,459 metric tons of CO2, the Power & New Renewable Energy Sub-holding by 2,255 metric tons of CO2, and the Integrated Marine Logistics Sub-holding by 5,115 metric tons of CO2.
