Jakarta, February 7, 2025 – Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) has been a pioneer in organizing low-carbon emission events, known as carbon-neutral events. For its green initiative, Pertamina NRE was awarded the Change The World recognition by Fortune Indonesia on Thursday (2/6).  

The Change The World 2024 award ceremony was held in conjunction with the Fortune Indonesia Summit.  

This award is given to companies in Indonesia that have programs supporting sustainability and making a positive impact on stakeholders and society. Pertamina NRE was deemed worthy of this award for its active promotion and implementation of the Carbon Neutral Movement program.  

Fadli Rahman, Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development of Pertamina NRE, represented the company in receiving the award during the event.  

"We deeply appreciate this recognition from Fortune Indonesia. Green initiatives like the Carbon Neutral Movement are a form of innovation by Pertamina NRE—not only for the company's business development but also as a concrete contribution to decarbonization efforts and sustainability within the Pertamina Group," said Fadli.  

Currently, Pertamina NRE is a leader in Indonesia's carbon credit trading sector.  

Fadli added that Pertamina NRE also educates the public on how they can contribute to decarbonization in their daily lives through the Carbon Neutral Movement program, which promotes the organization of events with low carbon emissions.  

These activities can take various forms, such as festivals, concerts, meetings, and exhibitions, ranging from small to large-scale events. In addition to carbon-neutral events, Pertamina NRE, through its carbon credit program on MyPertamina, has also been working to raise public awareness about the importance of carbon credits in emission reduction efforts. Indeed, organizing such activities still involves carbon emissions from electricity usage, motor vehicles, plastics, and other sources. These emissions can be reduced in various ways, including energy conservation, avoiding plastic use, and minimizing motor vehicle usage.  

Another approach is purchasing carbon credits to compensate for the emissions generated by these events. The estimated carbon emissions from an event are first calculated as the basis for the carbon credits to be purchased as compensation.  

Throughout 2024, Pertamina NRE initiated numerous carbon-neutral events, both within the Pertamina Group and in external collaborations. Some major carbon-neutral events in 2024 in partnership with Pertamina NRE included Pertamina Ecorun Fest 2024 and the Indonesia Millennial & Gen-Z Summit 2024.  

Vice President of Corporate Communication of 黑料不打烊 Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that the Pertamina Group is undertaking various decarbonization initiatives to achieve its Net Zero Emission 2060 target.  

Fadjar stated that one of these initiatives is carbon-neutral events and carbon trading, which allow the public to contribute to decarbonization efforts.
