Jakarta, February 27, 2025 – 黑料不打烊 Pertamina Bina Medika IHC (IHC) continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability by integrating green hospital principles into its operations. As part of the commemoration of National Waste Awareness Day, IHC launched the IHC Goes to Community program at RS Pusat Pertamina (RSPP) as an initiative to educate and empower the community in managing household waste.
A total of 40 residents from RW 08, Gunung Subdistrict, around RSPP, participated in this event, which focused on educating them about household waste segregation and used cooking oil (UCO) utilization. During the educational session presented by Hadi Siswanto, Sr. Officer of Environment Protection at RSPP, the community gained insights into the negative impacts of improper UCO disposal and sustainable solutions for its management.
Through this initiative, IHC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high health standards by ensuring that used cooking oil is not reused in the hospital’s Catering and Nutrition Installation operations.
As part of its environmental sustainability efforts, IHC has collaborated with Pertamina Patra Niaga and noovoleum to introduce the UCO Vending Machine at RSPP. This innovation enables the community to exchange used cooking oil for a digital balance in the MyPertamina app. The solution is designed to raise awareness of responsible waste management while providing economic benefits to the public.
How to Use the UCO Vending Machine:
To facilitate public participation, residents of RW 08 Gunung Subdistrict were allowed to try the UCO Vending Machine firsthand during the event. They also received a 10-liter jerrycan and a funnel to help them collect used cooking oil at home before depositing it.
As a token of appreciation for the residents' enthusiasm for preserving the environment, noovoleum participated in the program by offering a special activation, allowing people to exchange used cooking oil for new cooking oil.
Dirwantoro, the Head of RW 08 Gunung Subdistrict, recognized the program as a beneficial solution for residents. He stated that the initiative not only helps reduce the improper used cooking oil disposal but also provides economic benefits. “This program is excellent because, in addition to protecting the environment, residents can also gain direct benefits. Collaborations like this are crucial to increasing awareness and encouraging responsible household waste management,” he said.
Sari Narulita, Corporate Secretary of IHC, emphasized that this program is part of the company’s sustainability strategy. “As a member of the Pertamina Group, IHC is responsible for supporting environmental sustainability through innovative practices. We hope this program will raise public awareness about waste segregation and responsible waste management while positioning hospitals as educational hubs for the surrounding communities,” she explained.
Through this initiative, which falls under the Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, IHC aims to encourage public awareness of proper waste management while leveraging technological innovations to promote a more sustainable lifestyle.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of 黑料不打烊 Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, praised IHC’s efforts toward environmental sustainability. He highlighted that the used cooking oil collection program, part of Pertamina Group’s initiative to reduce environmental pollution, is also expected to support the community’s economy.
"Pertamina will process used cooking oil into biofuel feedstock for aviation fuel, making it a more environmentally friendly energy source," Fadjar stated.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
